Sarrah Zadeh is a contemporary narrative artist whose work examines the beautiful absurdity of life — the contradictions, myths, and quiet tensions that shape how we live.
Through a balance of soft color palettes and moments of humor — sometimes playful, sometimes satirical — Zadeh transforms life’s complexities into visual stories that invite reflection rather than confrontation.
Her practice spans narrative-style paintings and sculptural works that uncover the contradictions we live with — from the quiet rules of society to the patterns of human behavior. Through layered detail and symbolic form, she balances the “serious” with the seemingly “frivolous,” inviting viewers to encounter both the humor and weight of these tensions. This duality in her work demonstrates a profound ability to pair thought-provoking content with the sheer pleasure of visual enjoyment.
Primarily an oil painter, Zadeh also creates sculptural and mixed media works to convey her ideas. Humor, sensuality, and intention shape her practice, inviting viewers to reflect not only on what they see but on what lies beneath.
Originally from Iran, Zadeh spends her time living between Colombia and the USA and holds a BA in Art History from the University of Houston. Her work has appeared in Arts to Hearts Magazine and in juried exhibitions such as Banned! Art Show at Hardy & Nance Studios and Bayou City Art Fair in Houston. Zadeh has also been a featured speaker at artist-centered events — including those organized by VBB: Voices Breaking Boundaries — reflecting her growing interest in conversations that connect art, culture, and society.
Artist Statement:
I create work that looks at the absurdity of life — inviting viewers to see its humor, its complexity, and its quiet revelations. My paintings and sculptural installations highlight life’s contradictions, opening space for reflection rather than resolution.
Through intentional soft color palettes and moments of humor, I balance heavy or complex ideas with a sense of lightness and care. My work offers a space for recognition, empowerment, and the simple pleasure of knowing we are all part of this strange, absurd, and beautiful story.
